To Linda Brown and her family:

I was very surprised when my name was called for the Linda Myers Brown "Love of Nursing" scholarship. As I stood next to Linda and talked with her, all I could think about was how truly special she must have been as a nurse to have a scholarship set up and named on her behalf. I was grateful to be chosen for this award, but it wasn't until later that night when I sat in my car and read that letter that was handed to me, that I realized how much of an honor it truly was! The award has definitely helped lessen the financial burden as we encounter the expenses involved with graduation, and I am truly thankful for that. What has touched my heart more than anything was the encouraging words in the letter that was handed to me that night. Throughout the year, and especially this last semester, when I needed some encouragement, I pulled that letter out to read. For me, this scholarship has not been a "hand out" but rather a "hand up." Because of this honor, I will keep UP my spirits; I will keep UP my nursing skills; I will keep being the best nurse that I can be and assist other to also pull themselves UP. Again, I would truly like to express my gratitude and appreciation to everyone involved in selecting me for this honorable scholarship.

May God bless each of you,

Sandy Graham

A Note from Linda Myers Brown's Family

It is a great pleasure to announce a scholarship that was started in honor of Linda Myers Brown. We started this scholarship as recognition for Linda's "Love of Nursing" profession, her love of Graham Hospital, and her love of the Graham School of Nursing.

For 37 years at Graham, Linda interacted with hundreds of fellow Graham employees, held the hands of thousands of moms, comforted thousands of dads, and held the precious gift of a newborn baby in her hands as they struggled to enter a new world.

All Linda ever wanted was to be a nurse. I can't think of a career with more emotion, more excitement, more sorrow, but ultimately with more reward and love. She woke up every morning, looking forward to a new experience, knowing she was going to be a part of another one of God's miracles that day.

Linda was blessed to get the chance to be in a profession where she made a difference in someone's life each and every day, hour and minute. She never forgot that.

Please help us in honoring all that Linda did, and all that Linda meant to each and every one of us through a generous donation to the "Linda Myers Brown Love of Nursing Scholarship." A donation to the Graham Hospital Foundation will ensure that Linda's legacy will live forever in the minds and hearts of all of us. I can't think of a better way to honor someone we love so much, and who touched our lives - like they may never be touched again.

God Bless,
Linda Myers Brown Family

A Special Thank You

Words are only words unless they come from the heart. "Thank you" are just two words with infinite uses. Coming from my heart, I thank you all who have touched my life in any way. My sister, Kathy, thought of and created the "Linda Myers Brown Love of Nursing" scholarship with the help of Bob Senneff, Shelly Bryant, Cissie Lindsey, and Sue Livingston. To be honored by this scholarship is very humbling. I have always wanted to be a nurse and my rewards came by the way of my patients, until now. Now that I cannot work anymore, my rewards come from my family, my friends, and my second family at Graham Hospital. How could I be so lucky to have all of this?

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to anyone and everyone who has donated to my scholarship. There are lots of donors that I don't know personally but have donated because they know a relative, a friend, or just because. Thank you, again, to everyone who has touched my life in any way. It means so much to me, and I love and appreciate you all!

Sincerely,
Linda Myers Brown
